All youth ages 8-17 years are welcome to join our program. All applicants will be considered for mentee-ships, however, the youth with the greatest needs will be given higher priority in being matched with a mentor. Youth may also limit their participation to the school-based programming (e.g., school-based support services such as coaching, counseling, tutoring, peer mediation program), currently provided in the Brisbane School District; and/or youth may participate in the group mentoring-educational and service activities. Adult participation is welcomed at every level. A comprehensive training program is available to all adult participants (mentor applicants and all other volunteers). Adults applying as mentors will be required to complete the 12 hour training program and comply with Live Scan (DOJ fingerprint and background check). Adults may also limit their volunteer participation, based on their ability to give time and energy. Adults will include: * Adults 50 and older interested in mentoring a youth (Under 50 adults will be considered on a case-by-case basis) *Adults 50 and older and currently involved in generational caregiving (i.e., children, grand-children, parents, grand-parents-with all levels of abilities) * Adults interested in supporting environmental educationand service learning * A local "Green" business person interested in providing job mentoring and/or apprenticing a teen youth; or would like to offer some amount of "group" job/career training for youth * Adults interested in story telling (cultural, historical-local and beyond) * A community member interested in applying to be on GGH Board of Directors or on the GGH Advisory Committee The Growing Green Hands program is open to any person interested in supporting our mission, without regard to race, sex, religion, ability, national origin or income status. Please note that passing a DOJ background check is required for adults to be allowed to offer one-on-one adult/child mentoring.
